Here is a post I wrote on my facebook:

God created both men and women in equal standing before him. men and women are of the same value before God. however, i believe men and women are different in role. one role is not better than the other, it is just the different roles assigned to them. In the home or the church, it is the responsibility of the man to be the leader. I say this with caution, knowing that many will assume that this means the man can be oppressive and do whatever he wants. this is not what i am saying at all; as the leader, it is the man's responsibility to put aside his desires first and to lay down his life the most. He is to love and care for his wife. The Bible commands men to do this. Sadly, too many men today just listen to the part about leading, and not about caring. I believe it is the responsibility of a woman to follow and support her husband. This does not mean she does not help make decisions; in fact, if the husband is truly leading as described above, his wife's opinion will be very likely to be adhered to. Ephesians 5:25 does a great job saying this:

"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. [1] 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies."

it is somewhat annoying to me when people say they want "equal rights" when really all they do is take away rights from and benefits from those who are qualified for them and give them to others, or when people say that men and women can do all things equally well. this is simply not the case. based on the way that God made us, there are certain things that men are better at doing than women, and some things that women are better at doing than men. when one sex tries (male or female) tries to say that culture is the only thing thing that has made men and women different, it really bugs me. we are different. equal, but different. It bothers me that in today's world, for a guy my age to be normal and acceptable, he either has to be the stereotypical frat boy who only thinks about sex, beer, and partying , or to be 'politically correct" he has to be gay and wish he was a woman. It bugs me how it is fine for a girl to say whatever she thinks about men and not be called "chauvinist" or "sexist," but for a male to say anything possibly drawing a distinction between men and women is unacceptable. People, if we are working for equal rights, let's make sure that everyone, male and female alike, aer treated equally. Let me be clear; it is as much, if not more so, the fault of men that our society has the mentality described above. So many men are weak-spined, selfish, lazy brutes who care for no one but themselves, and have made life very difficult for women, and they have more or less brought their reputation upon themselves. This is a call for a restoration of true manhood and womanhood. Boys, let us become men who seek to serve our sisters through humble and compassionate, yet strong, leadership. Girls, please be women who help, support, and encourage us. it can be difficult for us (guys) to lead, and we are still learning. we will make many blunders, and feel very stupid many times. you have no idea how much your support means to us in those times. Finally, let us all work towards this goal of manhood and womanhood for the glory of Jesus Christ our savior, who made it possible for us to live at peace at all.

In closing, i just want to thank all of my Godly friends, both guys and girls, who seek to serve God and fulfill his role for them as God has made them.

haha, so its been a while.  it is now christmas break, and i am done with my first full time semester in college.  i am quite pleased with my grades. life is good.  i am trying to grow a beard. not just a goatee this time, but a beard. we will see what happens.  so far, it is just a lot of glorified stubble.  oh well.  hahahahaha.  i love facial hair.  it is funny. i have been somewhat lonely over the past several days because, since i am not at school and not seeing my friends.  i had some philosophical thought today, but now i cannot remember it.  i would have shared it with you.  hmmm, i am thinking about jonny garber right now.  what a guy.  god has worked so much in him, and jonny is following him whole heartedly.  what a humble man.  i love him for his personality, too. he is one of the funniest people i've ever known.  he is a wealth of information, and if you ever need a record keeper, hire jonny. he has lists that are constantly updated and that keep track of everything.  he probably even has lists for his lists.  now i am thinking about daniel hinders.  i love daniel.  he is so funny.  i used to be scared of him and think he was mean, but now i know he is not.  God is also working in him.  daniel is a wealth of information, and a good man to seek advice from.  he loves jesus, and he is a hardworker.  he loves a good time though.   these are just two of my very good friends, and i have many more. i love them all, in the brotherly sense of the word.  god has changed you all, and you all mean so much to me. now i am thinking of all my friends that are girls, some who have been friends for years, some who are just really good friends from this semester of school and caregroup.  you guys rock.  i will not list any names for fear that i might forget some of you, but know how much i appreciate you. you guys live very differently than the rest of the world because of god's work in you.  i am honored to call you my friends and sisters.   yeah, i was thinking about how counter-cultural our church is, even from a lot of  other churches.  sometimes when i share the gospel with people at work, i think about how wierd what i am saying must sound to them.  i am so glad that jesus has opened my eyes to his glory.  he is my very best friend. i love him.  and i love all my christian friends who point me towards jesus.  so yeah, that's a good new post.  i think i will also put this on facebook.  if you do not have facebook, you should get it.  it is fun.  if this beard works, then you will see it.  i think it might not work, though.  i will have it until at least sunday (i think).  sunday is my mom's birthday, so say happy birthday to her if you see her.  i love writing whatever comes into my mind.  follow jesus, friends.  i love you all and am so blessed to have you as friends.

a few of us very good friends.  it is a very bad picture of me, but that is ok.

so i'm gonna copy dan and talk about music.  It's crazy; if someone would have told me two years ago that I would like the music that I like today, I would have thought they were crazy.  bands and artists like Sigur Ros, Lovedrug, Working Title, Sufjan Stevens, etc.  I love that stuff now.  So what's kinda funny is how different kinds of music makes me think of different time periods in my life.  like, Kutless Sea of Faces and KJ-52 makes me think of building a nature trail at the church in the hot summer of 2004 with Ben and Gabe and going to see spiderman 2. Alterbridge is soccer season 2004.  The Importance of Being Earnest soundtrack makes me think of doing latenite chemistry tests during my junior (04-05) year of highschool. Relientk's mmhmm takes me back to Mexico in spring 2005 with youthgroup.  Evanescence is definitely the summer of 2005 working at the church and taking western civ at mason with kate and megan.  Switchfoot Nothing is Sound makes me think of Hollister, Soccer tournament, Cici's pizza, and Physics.  Imogen Heap is last november and christmas time with Pride and Prejudice.   Kelly Clarkson and Thrice are Christmas break 2005 reminders.  Seether and Amy Lee's  "Broken" is Mason March Madness.  Flyleaf was NA 06 and the early summer.  Lovedrug still is, but I'm already starting to associate it with my summer job at Clawes Carpets, Inc and my car wreck.  I think I will always like lovedrug, though.  In a few months, I will probably think of Sigur Ros, Sufjan, Working Title when i think of fall semester 2006. I love music.  I also really love old hymns.  I mean I like some modern Christian music and some contemporary worship songs (like Prince of Peace and Jesus Paid It All) but I really like old hymns to draw my attention to God.  hymns like Come Thou Fount, It Is Well, Amazing Grace, and Be Thou My Vision are my favorites.  I love how these songs make me think about Jesus dying for me and now caring for me.  How amazing is that?  I mean, why did Jesus die for me?  I love him.  So, on a final note, I wish Christians would make more serious-good quality music with good lyrics so that both lyrics and music are good.  there's so much good music with bad words in the secular world and so many good words with bad music in the Christian world.  That's why Sufjan and Anathello make me so happy;  good bands with good God-glorifying lyrics.

"here i am. growing older all the time. growing older all the time. but growing younger in my mind." can anyone tell me what that's from (jonny, you can only answer after other people have guessed.)  so i'm here at work. today i'm in the office.  yesterday i had to move 300 rolls of carpet padding in a warehouse without AC.  I got really tired.  the weekend was pretty sweet.  i went to Aidans Friday night for a little party.  Jonny and I talked for hours and hours.  We talked also with peter and dan a little bit. then since no one gave me blankets, i used bath towels to sleep in. they stink as blankets.  so then i worked saturday and then had a little birthday party for my brother.  sunday was lots of fun. after church, i went to Chippys for lunch with a bunch of people.  Then a bunch of people left, and it was only Chris Pittman, Paul and Josh Teodoro, this girl named Jenavive (I really don't know how to spell her name). then Pitts left, and the rest of us saw a movie.  fun times. i gotta go get propane for the forklift.
